The 2018 Geneva Motor Show is over. It was packed with electric cars, a number of SUVs and extreme supercars. We have already shared photos from the show, and you can also view them at the end of this article. It is no wonder that 2018 was the year of electric cars coming of age. No longer can Tesla own this space exclusively as full electric power becomes a mainstream niche!

Also, we can’t ignore the plug-in hybrids. Audi, Jaguar, Hyundai, Volkswagen, Porsche and Ssangyong all featured their electric and plug-in hybrid cars this year.

One of the most eye-catching electric car was the Porsche Mission E Cross Turismo concept. Even though Porsche recently stated that the 911 would not house a full electric drive train, we can see what they can do with the rest of the range.

The Bugatti Chiron was the most powerful car in the show, and Bugatti revealed a new [...]

The Defender is back! Land Rover recently released a new Defender, sort of! This is called the Defender Works V8. It is built as a limited edition that celebrates the Land Rover brand’s 70th anniversary and aims to recapture the market taken by the Defender customisers.

This is a limited edition run of 150 units based on selected low mileage used Defenders from 2012 to date.  It’s an interesting move to see that the factory decided to “restomode” used vehicles to build these.

According to Land Rover, the idea emerged in 2014 when LR was approaching the end of the Defender production. LR recognised the gap in the market and had designed this model much earlier. The decision to reveal the Works V8 is a bit tactical. The company wishes to keep the Defender brand alive, whilst Mercedes-Benz recently introduced the second-generation G-Wagon.

This is an extraordinary Defender Works V8. A V8 produces 400 [...]

Alfa Romeo SUV

Alfa Romeo’s first SUV, Stelvio Quadrifoglio is the first SUV from Alfa Romeo that promises to be the fastest SUV available on the market until the Lamborghini Urus becomes available.

We are interested in the Stelvio Quadrifoglio in that it produces 510 bhp from a 2.9-lt bi-turbo V6 engine with an 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox. It reaches 62mph in 3.9-sec and has a top speed of 177mph! The weight distribution is 50:50 and the Quadrifoglio weighs 1.8-tonne.

This power unit is derived from the Ferrari California T, with only two cylinders being removed. That’s how this Alfa Romeo SUV finds such power.

Stelvio is a driver-focused car and with the interior architecture from the Giulia. The driver-focused controls and the 8.8-inch infotainment clearly show the resemblance.

With the Quadrifoglio spec, you will find leather seats, LED headlights, carbon ceramic brakes, driving assistance systems (autonomous braking, [...]

At the recent Detroit Motor Show, Dodge revealed the latest RAM. This time Dodge has removed 102 kg, and have introduced an eTorque mild-hybrid system and 14-inch front brakes. The weight loss is achieved by the use of high-strength steel in the frame and the body. We are quite familiar with the use of high-strength steel in the case of European cars, but now the Americans are following this trend.

As the SUVs have been morphing into. the new MPVs, pickups are becoming the new SUVs, and we can clearly see this with the RAM’s recent improvements, from engine technology to driving assistance systems.

Starting with the bonnet, the RAM houses a 5.7-lt V8 Hemi that generates 395-HP and 555 Nm of torque. As the V8 Hemi is a petrol engine, we can’t get the high levels of torque as we can with a diesel engine. However, the new mild-hybrid system adds 176 Nm [...]

The new Aston Martin Vantage has now been revealed. It was first introduced in 2005 to compete with the Porsche 911. Despite its best efforts, Vantage never managed to be the perfect substitute for the Porsche 911. However, the Vantage created its own fans! It also reintroduced V8 engines to the range where for many years V12s were standard engine configuration in Astons.

Being an entry level Aston Martin has never been a problem for the Vantage. It has had the Aston Martin DNA since the beginning, with an aggressive engine with unique exhaust notes and the iconic Aston Martin handling. Unlike other entry level sports car, the Vantage offered a proper Aston Martin experience. The addition of the V12 motor produced one of the most satisfying Aston’s to drive in years.

Now Aston Martin has revealed the brand-new Vantage. This time, Aston Martin created the Vantage without the Ford. Instead, we see a Mercedes-AMG 4-lt [...]
