From his humble beginnings as a tractor manufacturer in 1963, Ferruco Lamborghini’s priorities changed when he met Enzo Ferrari to complain about the quality of his clutch on his Ferrari 250, and received a dismissive answer from Ferrari who suggested he look after his tractors. A resentful Lamborghini went back to the factory, summoned up his engineers and instructed them to build the faster sports car, which would make Mr. Ferrari turn pale! Ever since, Lamborghini have been writing automotive history.
After years of producing some of the finest Italian sports cars and a series of complications, the small Italian manufacturer was taken over by Audi AG. A somewhat stagnant production line resurrected and the brand focused its attention on developing newer, more technologically advanced models. Audi famously played a large role in the Murcielago, arguably the come-back car that put Lamborghini back on the map.
The supercar line-up of the Huracan, Aventador, SV, SVJ and special editions have achieved their status as the world’s finest. As of 2018, Lamborghini released the Urus, the brands second attempt in the SUV market after a somewhat controversial LM002.
