The First Alfa Romeo SUV!
We are interested in the Stelvio Quadrifoglio in that it produces 510 bhp from a 2.9-lt bi-turbo V6 engine with an 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox. It reaches 62mph in 3.9-sec and has a top speed of 177mph! The weight distribution is 50:50 and the Quadrifoglio weighs 1.8-tonne.
This power unit is derived from the Ferrari California T, with only two cylinders being removed. That’s how this Alfa Romeo SUV finds such power.
Stelvio is a driver-focused car and with the interior architecture from the Giulia. The driver-focused controls and the 8.8-inch infotainment clearly show the resemblance.
With the Quadrifoglio spec, you will find leather seats, LED headlights, carbon ceramic brakes, driving assistance systems (autonomous braking, lane departure warning, forward collision warning), keyless entry and 19-inch wheels.
The 4×4 technology is designed for performance. Under normal driving conditions, 100% of the power is delivered to the rear axle. The Q4 four-wheel drive system is capable of delivering 50% of the power to the front axle. However, this power delivery is not adequate for serious off-road conditions. In addition, Alfa Romeo offers torque vectoring technology to improve the cornering abilities of their new SUV in order for it to stay competitive.
Overall, the Stelvio is a new experience for the Alfa Romeo brand. It is not as posh as the Porsche or luxurious like the Mercedes-Benz GLC. However, it offers the Alfa Romeo DNA in a new perspective that will make it fun to drive in any weather conditions. We are not expecting high sales volumes as with the Porsche or Mercedes-Benz. As a result, the Stelvio will be a unique Alfa Romeo SUV for people who are looking for something that is both fast and exclusive.
