THE AMERICAN CLASSIC

We used to import “Eleanors” built by a US company that had a licence from “Haliki films“ to produce an official Eleanor. The vehicles produced were not the best quality and we had various issues with them. Then “Shelby American” licensed their brand to the same company who ditched the “Eleanor“ brand in favour of “Shelby”. We have since built our own restored and new build 1967 Ford Mustangs in the UK which we offer under our Sutton brand as a GT500CS. Our builds are made to EU quality standards not only in body panel fit and paint but also in the integrity of the mechanical and electrical builds.

We offer either “renewed build“ restorations based on original 1967/68 chassis or a completely new build using a brand new Chassis and body. Either way we offer either a more period correct build with either a movie car basic interior, carburettor V8 and original 4 speed manual.

Alternatively, you can opt for a contemporary style build with many modern features such as height adjustable independent suspension, up to 14” disc brakes with 6 piston front callipers, up to 18” alloy wheels with modern tyres, 5 and 6 speed manual transmission or 4 speed automatic. “8 Stack“ fuel injection, with selectable ECU maps, and an active exhaust system.

We can offer a blended interior with retro looking instruments but with digital inset displays, carbon fibre or carbon fibre look dash, modern centre console, in dash built in Sat Nav, reversing camera, DAB audio, modern seats, full leather interiors, HiFi Sound systems, and Air conditioning.

302 cu 5.0 litre period correct V8 with either carburettors or Fuel injection

  1. 331 cu 5.4 litre “ stroker” V8 with upgraded pistons and crankshaft either fitted with 5 speed Tremec manual or 4 speed auto
  2. 427 cu in 7.0 litre big block with either carburettor or “8 stack racing fuel injection” with either 6 speed Tremec manual or 4 speed auto
  3. 5.0 litre “Coyote” V8 from the latest generation Ford Mustangs with either 6 speed manual or 6 speed auto transmissionOther modern options include coil over independent suspension, adjustable dampers and ride height, 17” or 18” wheels with either full or partial finish or powder coated in satin black.

LED lighting, remote control central locking, Period correct chrome or satin black chrome, Recaro seats with or without electric adjustment.

You can choose to follow the film car colour scheme of “Dupont Pepper Grey “ with a black painted racing stripe or elect to have your own personal colour scheme. Each GT500CS is unique and tailor built to the owner's specification.

We also offer new build in both Left and Right hand drive. If your interest is in other derivatives of the 1960s Ford Mustangs we can obviously help too. Either with the sourcing, supplying, repairing, restoring of original Ford Mustangs or the “ renewed build” or new build.

We can build for you a robust quality GT500CS that can either be faithful to the original 1967/8 specification or we can introduce various levels of modern technical updates.

We either work with an original 1967/68 Ford Mustang or a completely new body. From brakes, suspension, engines, transmissions, fuel injection, air conditioning, leather interiors, modern Navigation with either custom made new centre consoles to house double din head units or period looking. We can build in multi-speaker Audio systems, iPod /reversing cameras, remote door locking. Also available in Right Hand Drive. Costs from around £170K up to £300K depending on what we create for you.

CASE STUDY #2

SUTTON GT500CS 1967 CONTEMPORARY EDITION

A ”renewed build “ using original 1967 Ford Mustang chassis with new panels and rotisserie build. Featuring the “Eleanor Style “body kit including Bonnet, wheel arches, rear panel, boot with integrated spoiler rear lights and side exiting exhausts, Electronic Active exhaust control for loud and soft settings

Taken to another level for the original Movie Car spec from ‘Gone in 60 seconds’ we have reimagined this model with contemporary features and design cues. Finished in latest Ford Magnetic Grey metallic with black Nappa leather and satin black external brightwork and black powder coated wheels.

​SUSPENSION, BRAKES & WHEELS

​The suspension is a fully adjustable coil-over set-up for front having rebound and bump adjustment and ride height adjustment. The rear also features adjust height coil springs of up to 250lbs.

Front Suspension: Tubular Upper Arms, Tubular Lower Control Arms HD Front Ani-Roll Bar, HD Front Shock Absorbers, With Damping and Ride Height Adjustment. Rear suspension coil over suspension with also with height adjustment.

14” brake discs with 6 piston front callipers and 4 piston rear callipers ensures modern high-performance braking.

18” Front and rear GT500 black finished wheels shod with modern performance tyres.

ENGINE

At the heart of this GT500CS is a full re-build of the donor car’s 5.0 litre, bhp V8 engine, taking it to 5.4 litres and nearly 500 bhp through the introduction of hyper eutectic pistons, high-performance camshaft and eight-Stack fuel injection UK manufactured and originally derived from the Ford GT40. Console switchable ECU provides 3 custom tunes for road, race and track modes.

The engine bay features an all Billet finish Front Pulley System, billet cross stability bars. A heavy-duty quick ratio steering box.

INTERIOR

Period-style dials sit alongside LED gauges, all housed in a carbon-finish dashboard. A custom-made carbon-finish centre console surrounds an array of modern controls for features such as active exhaust, engine map and auxiliary lighting controls. Remote control boot opening function, Satellite navigation, Apple Car Play-equipped infotainment and a Morel audio system, DAB radio, reversing camera, remote control locking, and tracker round off the advanced in-cabin technology.

The interior surfaces have been trimmed in high-quality black Nappa leather with dark grey stitching; extending to the door panels, rear quarter panels, centre console trim and dashboard. New Recaro front seats are finished in ‘Daytona’ style, with the rear seats trimmed to match. The headlining, sun visors, and boot are all fully trimmed in dark Alcantara the custom, leather-wrapped Mota-Lita steering wheel is mounted on a stainless-steel tilt steering column. The boot is trimmed and features a custom inbuilt Morel Subwoofer, Amps and ambient lighting. Auxiliary Power Sockets to Boot and Cubby Box and USB Power Socket.
