The new Mercedes-Benz CLS was revealed a few weeks ago. The third generation CLS has not broken the original format and remains based on the latest E-Class, sharing the E-Class’s modular platform technology, nine-speed automatic gearbox and 4MATIC four-wheel drive system. Also, the CLS is available with three different suspension systems, standard springs, adaptive dampers and full air suspension.
The CLS was a new challenge for Mercedes-Benz when it was first introduced in 2005. A four-door coupe with a radical design was something new to the Mercedes-Benz brand. Until that time, Mercedes-Benz had clearly separated coupes and sedans. However, the CLS was the first car of that genre combining coupe looks with saloon car design. This radical movement brought new customers to Mercedes-Benz and changed the perception of Mercedes-Benz vehicles.
