The fastest and the most powerful title was given to the 911 GT2 RS thanks to its biturbo engine that produces 700 HP! The 3.8-lt biturbo engine produces 700 HP and 750 nm of torque. This power is delivered by a 7-speed double-clutch automatic PDK gearbox. Similar to the BMW M powered car, Porsche sprays water to cool down the charge-air.
The fastest 911 needs only 2.8 seconds to reach 62 mph (100kph). This figure is only 0.3 seconds slower than that of the Bugatti Chiron. The top speed of the 911 GT2 RS is 211 mph (340 kph).
As the 911 GT-Series is designed for light weight and performance, Porsche offer Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes as standard to save a serious amount of weight. In addition, an extra-lightweight titanium exhaust system saves an extra seven kilograms. Porsche also used many carbon fibre parts to reduce the overall weight of the 911 GT2 RS. The front wings, wheel housing vents, outer shells on the Sport Design exterior mirrors, air intakes on the rear side sections and parts of the rear end are some of the parts that use carbon-fibre reinforced plastic. Furthermore, the bonnet is made from carbon and the roof is made from magnesium, not only to reduce the weight, but also to reduce the centre of gravity for better handling and performance. In addition to all these weight-saving and performance focused improvements, Porsche offers rear-axle steering to improve the handling and increase the cornering performance of the 911 GT2 RS.
In case, you’re not satisfied with the 1470-kg wet weight (with a full fuel tank), Porsche offers the optional Weissach pack to save 30-kg more weight!
The interior of the 911 GT2 RS offer a similar design approach to that of the other Porsche 911 models. However, we can see the traces of the weight saving approach through the use of carbon parts. Unlike the previous GT-Series, Porsche offers the Porsche Communication Management system that can record details of your track performance and transfer the data to your smart phone via a mobile app.
Porsche 911 GT2 RS is a unique and an exciting car. The minimalist and sleek design of the 911 offers an outstanding performance that can allow it to easily overtake many hyper cars on the market. GT2 RS might be a track-based car. However, this shows Porsche’s racing DNA to its customers.
